With the launch, Fingerprints has confirmed 20 contactless card trials across the world now utilise its fingerprint touch sensors.

Fingerprints Smartcards senior vice-president Thomas Rex said: “Awareness is growing as banks, retailers and consumers recognise the value that biometrics can offer.
“Banks can reduce fraud and grow trust to retain and attract customers and retailers can maximise throughput and reduced drop-outs, increasing revenues.
“Most importantly, consumers no longer have to compromise security in the name of convenience.”
The Crédit Agricole trial is expected to continue for six months, following which, a commercial roll-out is planned next year, reported Biometricupdate.com.

By GlobalDataThe biometric sensor on the payment card replaces PIN and signature verification with fingerprint authentication.
The process provides greater security without impacting the convenience of such payments.
These smartcards are equipped with Fingerprints’ optimised T-shape module sensor. The biometric payment cards do not feature a battery; rather the module procures power from the POS terminal to authenticate a transaction.
In March this year, Zwipe selected Fingerprint’s T-shaped sensor for the latest version of its biometric payment card.
The decision was based on the sensor’s performance and scalability in mass volume production.
