All Post Office branches in the UK will have
the capacity to accept NFC contactless payments by the end of this
year.
Global Payments’ subsidiary HSBC Merchant
Services won a tender to supply payment solutions to the UK postal
services in November 2011, and the acquirer has now announced its
plans to roll out what it says is the largest deployment of
contactless technology in Europe.

By the end of 2012, customers should be able
make payments up to GBP20 using both MasterCard Paypass and Visa
PayWave cards at the 11,000 Post Office branches in the UK.
