Consumers owning a NFC phone have increased by two folds since 2012, according to Deloitte’s Global Mobile Consumer Survey (GMCS).

According to the survey, which was conducted with over 37,600 consumers in 20 countries, about one in ten consumers (10%) know that NFC technology is embedded in their smartphone.

The survey findings revealed that around 62% of the consumers do not have the NFC technology in their phones while 28% do not know if their phone has it or not.

Of the 10% that know they have an NFC device, 34% said they have used it within the last month but 62% say they have never used the capability.

As per the survey, more men know they have an NFC phone and are more likely to use it compared to women.

The survey showed that 13% of males have an NFC phone while 60% do not and 26% were unsure. Among this 13%, 39% said they had used NFC in the last month while 56% said they had not and 6% were not sure.

The survey results found that 7% of females had an NFC phone while 63% did not have and 30% were not sure.

Among those who had a NFC phone, 26% of female consumers said that they had used the technology during the last month while 71% said they did not and 3% were not sure.
