Australian lender Commonwealth Bank (CommBank) has enabled its Tap & Pay app to support MasterCard and American Express (AmEx) credit card payments.
The lender is the first bank in Australia to make AmEx payments available on all Android devices.
Customers are able to pay with their credit card at the point of sale through the CommBank Tap & Pay app. The service is supported on all Android handsets with NFC, and the CommBank PayTag solution for iPhone users.
CommBank, retail products and strategy, executive general manager Angus Sullivan said: "Australia has some of the highest volumes of contactless payments globally and with more than 2.8 million users of the CommBank app each week, we are focused on delivering innovative payment features to our customers.
"This next evolution of the digital wallet places the power of mobile technology in the hands of even more Australians, giving them more convenient access to their finances whenever and wherever they are."
