Coge Bank, a commercial bank in Rwanda, has collaborated with Emerging Markets Payments (EMP), a payment solutions provider in Africa and the Middle East, for EMV card issuing, ATM and POS services.

Under the deal, EMP will install its latest mobile wallet and a companion card in Rwanda.

The partnership will allow the bank’s customers to use the mobile wallet for payments within the country, as well as connect branded pre-paid cards to the wallet for out-of-country and online payment usage.

The collaboration aims to boost the number of terminals which accept international cards, thereby benefiting all Rwanda card holders, as well as travelers visiting the country.

Additionally, Coge Bank customers can benefit from EMP’s ability to deliver a card with integrated loyalty and rewards programmes.

EMP Africa CEO Murat Ozulku said: “Coge Bank is a welcome new addition to EMP’s ever-expanding East African presence, and increases the number of EMP Rwandan bank customers to 5.
