UnionPay International has entered into an agreement with payment service provider CartaSi to start accepting UnionPay cards in Italy.

Under the agreement, CartaSi will begin accepting UnionPay cards across its 15,000 merchants including stores, restaurants and tourist sites by the end of July 2015.
China UnionPay chairman Ge Huayong said:"UnionPay cards can be used in 150 countries in the world. Until now, we have issued more than 40 million cards in 40 countries and regions.
"These cards can be accepted by 26 million merchants and 1.8 million Automatic Teller Machines worldwide. UnionPay has about 30% of market share in Europe. That will be expanded to 60% to 70% in a year or two."
