Payment processing firm CardNET has
enlisted VeriFone’s VeriShield Total Protect to secure its data
processing.

The Dominican firm will become the first in
Latin America and the Caribbean to implement the product into its
systems. VeriShield Total Protect, released by e-payments solutions
provider VeriFone and RSA – the security division of technology
provider EMC in 2010, is an integrated payment security
solution that uses end-to-end data encryption to secure
transactions.

The solution claims cardholder information is
encrypted at the exact instant of acceptance and encrypted
throughout the enterprise until it is transmitted to a secure
decryption server, which would effectively eliminate any risk of
usable cardholder data being compromised by a data breach.

“We are extremely confident that the
utilisation of VeriShield Total Protect, secured by RSA, will make
CardNET one of, if not the most, secure card processing operations
in this region,” said Eduardo Del Orbe, executive vice president of
CardNET.

CardNET claims to process approximately 80
percent of the total value of card transactions in the Dominican
Republic.
