CaixaBank has launched an instalment payment option for point-of-sale transactions made through Apple Pay on iPhone devices.
The rollout makes the financial institution the first bank in Spain to offer POS financing through Apple’s mobile wallet, it said in a statement.

The service allows cardholders to divide purchase amounts into fixed monthly payments over two to 12 months.
Customers can select their financing terms on their device at checkout or arrange an instalment plan after completing the transaction. Post-purchase plans are available through the CaixaBank mobile banking app, alongside card transaction records.
To access the feature at checkout, users can double-click the side button on an iPhone and select an eligible CaixaBank or imagin credit card in Apple Wallet. Financing options appear on the screen before transaction authorization.
The in-store rollout expands the bank’s digital financing service, which launched last year for e-commerce transactions completed through Apple Pay on iPhone and iPad devices.
“This further reinforces the bank’s commitment to providing an increasingly flexible, integrated payment experience tailored to its customers’ needs,” the statement added.
CaixaBank Payments & Consumer, the group’s consumer finance and payment services subsidiary, manages the rollout.
According to company data, CaixaBank Payments & Consumer oversees an active card base of more than 37 million cards and serves more than 20 million customers.
Earlier this year, Apple launched its payments service in India. Apple Pay in India will work with Axis Bank-issued Visa and Mastercard credit cards.
