The PayPal icon will be available directly in the messenger service, with users able to enter the amount of money they wish to send, and click send.

Also, users need not have the PayPal app on your phone to send money as the transfer occurs through BBM.

The feature, which is being trialled currently, will be available for iOS, Android and BlackBerry device users in Canada, with plans to launch to other regions globally in the coming weeks.

PayPal director of consumer product marketing Matt Gromada said: "Whether you’re paying a roommate back for rent or splitting dinner with friends, buying a group gift or sending your kid some spending money, sending money with PayPal through BBM is easy because it’s where your conversation is already happening."
