Mobile financial services provider bKash
has partnered Visa’s Fundamo unit to provide its services
across Bangladesh.

As per the deal, Fundamo will provide bKAsh’s
mobile financial services to unbanked and under-banked mobile
subscribers in Bangladesh.

“While only 9% of Bangladeshis are banked,
more than 44% of the population own a mobile phone, making
Bangladesh an ideal market for the introduction of mobile financial
services,” said Kamal Quadir, CEO of bKash.

“With the backing of leading players in the
field, bKash has the scale and expertise to deliver a service that
the majority of Bangladeshis desperately need.”

bKash will use Fundamo’s Application
Programming Interfaces platform, available in 40 countries
globally, to widen its reach in the country.
