Barclaycard CEO Val Soranno Keating has decided to step down from his role to pursue a new professional challenge after a term of six years.
Additionally, Amer Sajed, CEO of Barclaycard US, will assume the role on an interim basis following Keating’s departure.
However, the company is conducting an internal and external search for a successor.
Keating joined Barclays in 2009 after spending 16 years with American Express and eight years at the management consulting firm A.T. Kearney.
Group CEO Antony Jenkins said: "Val has made a significant contribution to the growth and development of Barclaycard during her five years leading the business. Her strategic leadership, energy and commitment have been the hallmarks of her tenure as CEO."
