Barclaycard Business Solutions has teamed up with The Miles Consultancy (TMC) to launch a new fuel card, Fuel+, designed to help drivers and fleet managers.
Fuel+ is available to organisations with large vehicle fleets that spend £500,000 ($831,220) or more in fuel. It features a fuel expenses Barclaycard as well as a mileage capture and audit system, developed by TMC.
"Fuel spending is a significant rising cost for many businesses and can be complex and time-consuming to manage," said Alejandro Stein, managing director of Barclaycard Global Commercial Payments.
The card includes global Visa acceptance, allowing drivers to refuel at almost all petrol stations in the UK. The TMC system gives fleet managers visibility over fuel spending and reduces costs by streamlining and automating processes.
Drivers can log their mileage online, over the phone or via text. Companies can also use the TMC Mileage app, which allows GPS tracking in smartphones to log the miles on the go.
The system analyses all relevant data including mileage statistics, distance travelled and vehicle-specific tank capacity.

This launch follows a pilot with 30 corporate clients, including Morrisons supermarkets, which has piloted Fuel+ over the last year. Managing director of TMC Paul Jackson commented: "The product gave outstanding results in daily use."
Fuel+ delivered a direct saving of over £300,000 on the corporate fuel budget in the first year of operation.
Earlier this year, fuel specialist Portland also launched a new fuel card aimed this time at small to medium-sized enterprises using diesel, with pre-arranged prices from oil traders.
