AVA Airways has formed a new alliance with technology solutions firm CellPoint Mobile for payment processing services through the Velocity platform.

The platform is set to enable AVA Airways to accept card-based payments for fares, ticket pre-sales and ancillary purchases. It will also support mobile bookings.

The adoption of platform is expected to boost both debit and credit card transactions before the official launch of the airline later this year.

Velocity will additionally act as a payment gateway for the airlines’ existing passenger services system (PSS) and provide optimised hosted payment pages integrated into the booking flow.

CellPoint Mobile business development manager James Schildknecht said: “We’re looking forward to providing AVA Airways with the payment platform they need to thrive.

“We look forward to growing with AVA as they expand capacity in a dynamic Caribbean airline market.”
