Fintech firm Atlantic-Pacific Processing Systems (APPS), which specialises in technology and financial services solutions, has acquired cloud-based software company Clique Payments.

The deal, whose financial details are not disclosed, bolsters APPS’ suite of enterprise resource planning (ERP) and accounting payments integrations with the addition of QuickBooks, FreshBooks, Xero, and Sage among others.

It will also enable the firm to support major payment processing providers and over 20 payment gateways.

Clique provides a software-as-a-service platform that offers a range of solutions with integrated payments acceptance for accounting and ERP software.

The platform features a front-office point-of-sale system that helps merchants to process all types of transactions.

It also facilitates branded invoice creation with email and text delivery, recurring billing, convenience fees, and tokenisation among other things.

Additionally, Clique’s platform is said to support APPS’ semi-integrated cloud POS terminal, which has connections to all major payment processing providers and gateways, in addition to the company’s proprietary custom-designed payment facilitation programme and platform.

This will enable independent software vendors (ISV) looking to offer card present payment solutions using the payfac model to avail integrated access to everything from a single source, noted the company.

APPS CIO Brent Gephart added that the acquisition of Clique provides ISVs, independent sales organizations and their merchant customers easy access to a comprehensive suite of products and services.

This is said to include payments integration application programming interfaces, user interfaces and plugins to prominent accounting and ERP platforms

APPS president and CEO Abe Maghaguian said: “The acquisition is also a really good fit with our APPSos platform for merchant lifecycle management and will enable independent software vendors, independent sales organisations, payment facilitators and bank sponsorship clients to expand their offerings while helping their clients streamline operations.”

Gephart added: “We look forward to rolling out Clique capabilities to clients and others looking to expand their offerings through this time-tested platform.”

In February this year, APPS partnered with blockchain provider Global Oculus to pilot a real-time digital currency acceptance, clearing and settlement solution.

This January, the company finalised the acquisition of cloud-based paytech company Paynomix.
