US lender Republic Bank announced that its clients can now use Apple’s mobile payment platform Apple Pay for making payment with its credit and debit cards.
Customers can continue to earn all rewards and benefits provided by the bank’s MasterCard credit and debit cards, such as Zero Liability Protection.
On adding a card to Apple Pay, actual card numbers are not stored on the device or Apple servers, and instead a unique device account number is encrypted and securely stored on the phone, thereby enhancing security.
Customers can use iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and Apple Watch to make payments through Apple Pay in participating stores. The service will be supported on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 for paying within apps.
Republic Bank marketing senior vice president Michael Sadofsky said: "We continually look for innovative approaches to make the lives of our clients easier. We are excited to offer Apple Pay as an easy, secure payment solution that allows our clients to bank when, where and how they want."
