Tech giant Apple has launched its in-house payments solution Apple Pay in Switzerland, the second European launch after the UK.

Announcing the launch on its website, Apple noted that the service will initially work through MasterCard and Visa cards issued by financial institutions Bonus Card, Corner Card and Swiss Bankers in the country.

The company added that it plans to add more payment and loyalty cards soon.

Apple Pay lets users make payments using an iPhone 6 or 6Plus, Apple Watch, iPad Air 2 or iPad Mini 3. It does not require Apple Pay-specific contactless payment terminals, and can work with existing contactless terminals.

On adding a card to Apple Pay, no actual card numbers are stored on the device and instead a unique device account number is encrypted and securely stored on the mobile device, with transactions authorised with a one-time dynamic security code.

Before this launch, the service was available only in six other markets: the US, UK, Canada, Australia, China and Singapore.
