The integration will be implemented through Octobank’s Octomobile app, making it the inaugural e-wallet in the nation to be integrated with Alipay+.

By the year end, additional local e-wallets and banking applications linked with HUMO are anticipated to follow suit.

Initially, Uzbek users of HUMO can make payments in their local currency, the Uzbek som, when travelling to China and over 50 other nations.

This service will cover various aspects of the travel experience, including dining, transportation, and retail.

Alipay+’s connections with various e-wallets and bank applications, national QR payment schemes and systems will be utilised, allowing Uzbek merchants to accept payments from international users of Alipay+-connected apps and wallets.

Alipay+ South East Asia (SEA), Australia & New Zealand (ANZ) and South Asia general manager Edward Yue said: “We are delighted to partner with HUMO, expanding Alipay+’s reach across Central Asia to over 45 million digital wallet users.

“The payment link will enhance the travel experience for Uzbek tourists with easy payments, attractive offers, and digital services. It will also help local merchants welcome international tourists and boost Uzbekistan’s tourism economy.”

To enhance travel experiences, Alipay+ has launched Alipay+ Voyager, an AI travel agent that is integrated into digital wallets.

This service is designed to provide personalised assistance to travellers, enabling partner wallets to offer tailored interactions.

Addressing the global shift towards digital wallets, Alipay+ has initiated the Digital Wallet Guardian Partnership.

This programme, which includes AlipayHK and TNG eWallet as the pilot partners, introduces the Alipay+ EasySafePay 360 solution, an AI-driven security system that aims to decrease account takeover risks by up to 90% while protecting the privacy of the user.

Prior to this, Ant International announced a collaboration with National Interbank Transaction Management and Exchange to enhance payment connectivity between Thai merchants and Chinese consumers via PromptPay.
