Airtel Money, the mobile wallet from India’s Bharti Airtel, has partnered with Chase Bank in Kenya to offer its customers a new Visa debit card to enable cash withdrawals and in-store payments.

The new card provides Airtel money subscribers with access to more than 10,000 merchants and over 2,500 Visa accepted ATMs nationwide while allowing them to make purchases at any Airtel outlet or Chase bank branches in Kenya.

Airtel Kenya managing director, Shivan Bhargava, said the partnership is timely and significant to the companies’ customers as it will diversify mobile money and banking services and ensure that subscribers from both companies get added values.

Apart from increasing accessibility of Airtel Money to its customers throughout Kenya, the partnership provides convenience and flexibility for customers and brings Visa capabilities to mobile money in the country.

Airtel Kenya entered into the country’s mobile commerce business in 2011, and offers e-commerce solutions including online payments, online banking, utility bill payments for electricity, DSTV, and water.

Airtel Money has a dealer network of more than 15,000 active agents which include banks, bank agents, supermarket chains and Posta outlets.
