Online payments processor 3G Direct Pay has signed a deal with Kenya-based merchant services platform, Kopo Kopo, to offer mobile payment options for travel merchants in East Africa.
Under the deal, the travel providers will now be able to accept all methods of online payment, including credit cards, PayPal and mobile money.
Additionally, it will allow their East African clients to extend their payment options using mobile money anywhere in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Zanzibar.
Kopo Kopo sales and distribution head, Francis Mugane, said: "The Kopo Kopo platform creates a vital link in the mobile money ecosystem by allowing consumers to pay at the merchants of their choice, unlocking billions in potential demand."
3G Direct Pay said that by using Kopo Kopo’s services platform they will provide all mobile money options in the region as part of its online platform used by the travel providers.
According to 3G Direct Pay, both the firms will continue their collaboration to bring continued growth to the tourism and hospitality markets in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Zanzibar.
