Barclaycard, has launched an online survey to
investigate the impact of compliance with data security standards
on small business.

The survey, which is conducted in partnership
with software security firm Vigitrust and payment network Visa,

“By listening to small businesses, we can
tailor the help we provide so it fits their needs, making it easier
for them to protect their customers and their business”, said Neira
Jones, head of payment security at Barclaycard.

The PCI DSS is a set of twelve requirements
designed to protect card payment data processes on different fronts
from identity theft to website tampering.

The more standards with which an SME complies,
the lesser risks they face in terms of data compromise and security
breaches, such as stealing payment card data and personal
information from customers.

“For smaller businesses, being part of the
fight against cybercrime can place a burden on them and complying
with data security standards can be complicated and confusing to
small organisations” added Jones.
