Telco company Nokia Siemens Networks and
mobile money technology provider MoreMagic Solutions have partnered
to develop ‘Mobile Payment Solutions’ (MPS), a
service targeted at unbanked consumers.
The MPS platform interconnects consumers,
retailers, financial institutions and other members of the mobile
commerce and financial services chain, where it aims to enable the
delivery of money transfers, mobile banking and payments and NFC
proximity payments.
“We are very excited about the growth in the
mobile payments space in general and about mobile money and NFC
payments in particular,” said Rick Centeno, head of charging,
billing and care at Nokia Siemens Networks.
“Our partnership with MoreMagic provides us
with a flexible architecture that integrates very well with our
flagship products.”
LPTIC (Libya Post, Telecommunications and
Information Technology holding company) is currently trialling MPS
in collaboration with Libyan mobile operations company Al Madar and
Libyana.
The pilot is scheduled to run over four
months, during which LPTIC plans to extend mobile payments to all
mobile operators across Libya.
