Tech giant Google has partnered with a number of banks, including Bank of America (BofA), Bank of New Zealand, Discover, mBank and USAA, to enable their customers to add cards to Android Pay from their apps.
The latest facility, which does not require downloading Android Pay, allows users to add and change their cards from their respective mobile banking apps, deactivate a card, and, use the app to make mobile payments.

In a blog post, Google global head of payments products Pali Bhat said: “Don’t have the Android Pay app downloaded? No problem. Through select mobile banking apps, you can access and enjoy the capabilities of Android Pay.
“This latest collaboration with banks expands Android Pay’s capabilities as an open platform, and moves us closer toward our goal of empowering mobile payments everywhere.
“We’re continuing to integrate with additional mobile banking apps, so look for updates from your bank about this new feature.”
