Norway’s Telenor, TeliaSonera and Tele2 have zeroed on the US-headquartered Amdocs Mobile Financial Services mobile payments solution to advance their Strex joint venture.

The Amdocs solution will combine the operators’ multiple SMS-based payment systems into one, allowing Strex to offer a single mobile wallet to pay for any digital or physical good or service, send money and pay bills via SMS, Web, USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) or using a mobile app.

Strex will leverage the solution’s integrated partner capabilities to manage and settle with merchants and other partners on the same convergent platform besides facilitating rapid ecosystem growth for better customer experience and faster service adoption.

Amdocs, which will manage Strex’s daily operations under a multi-year managed services agreement, will deploy the solution on a public cloud.

Amdocs Emerging Offerings division president Patrick McGrory said: "By combining technology with a dedicated set of services, and offering a payment platform to support customers of different operators, Amdocs can help the Strex partners overcome interoperability challenges and ensure maximum operational cost-efficiencies."
