Payment technology provider First Data has collaborated with KWI, a provider of real-time cloud technology solutions, to provide point-of-sale (POS) platform to specialty retailers.

Under the partnership, First Data will provide retailers with an enterprise commerce solution that includes a complete store system at no cost, along with its fraud and security tools.

First Data will integrate with KWI’s Integrated Solutions Group to offer POS solution tailored to specialty retailers. The combined offering will include KWI Cloud 9 Mobile POS.

First Data global business solutions executive vice president Dan Charron said: “For more than 30 years, First Data and KWI have worked seamlessly together to provide point-of-sale solutions to KWI’s retail clients. This latest collaboration deepens the relationship between the two companies and introduces a unique platform to the retail market.

“Like First Data, KWI has a long history of providing comprehensive solutions for midmarket clients. We are thrilled that they are the latest among many software developers integrating with our Integrated Solutions Group.”

KWI founder and CEO Sam Kliger said: "Leveraging technology is imperative to the future of retail, but the best technology comes at a price. Our combined offering includes our proven Cloud 9 platform now in its sixth year of installation throughout the industry, with full EMV integration eliminating the cost and complexity of required certifications. Working with First Data we are enabling retailers to reduce costs and simplify operations, allowing retailers to inject more capital into initiatives that will ultimately improve their business.

“We believe that a true SaaS offering should not require the retailer to make a significant upfront capital investment. This new offering perfectly aligns KWI’s and the retailer’s interests.”
