Ericsson has partnered with VeriFone Mobile Money to offer its clients a wider range of mobile payment tools for emerging markets.
Under the deal, VeriFone Mobile Money Retail Enablement software suite will be integrated with Ericsson Wallet Platform.
Ericsson’s wallet platform, which operates as part of Ericsson M-Commerce portfolio, enables operators to reuse existing assets and to bundle telecom offerings with financial services for m-commerce needs.
Ericsson expects the partnership to make it easier for operators using its products to offer a range of NFC and tap-and-pay services at the point-of-sale.
VeriFone Mobile Money CEO Chris Jones said: "This partnership will enable Ericsson’s customers to realize the economic benefits of increased volumes of payment transactions, wider mobile money adoption and an improved consumer experience."
Ericsson VP head of m-commerce Peter Heuman said: "Our partnership with VeriFone Mobile Money represents continued advancement of these efforts, helping mobile subscribers with more choices in where and how they can shop."
