Worldline has launched a payment handler designed to support agentic commerce payments through Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) capabilities.

In a statement, the French payments firm said the payment handler is built for UCP, an open standard for agentic commerce co-developed by Google and industry partners. The integration enables merchants to accept AI-initiated transactions across multiple platforms through a single setup.

The company said the launch makes it “one of the first in Europe” to offer a payment handler for UCP. The capability is delivered through Worldline’s cross-border payments platform Global Collect.

Global Collect (Worldline Group) CEO and Global Commerce head Stijn Gasthuys said: “As AI starts to play a bigger role in how consumers discover and buy products, merchants are looking for ways to capture these new opportunities without adding complexity to their operations.

“Our role is to make that possible through payment capabilities they already know and trust.”

UCP is designed to provide a common language that allows AI agents to discover products and execute purchases directly.

Worldline said its payment handler lets merchants set their payment configuration once and then accept payments across any UCP-connected AI platform. The setup supports card payments, mobile wallets and European payment methods.

Worldline Global Commerce Product & Technology VP Gertjan Dewaele said: “With the Worldline Global Collect Payment Handler, we have built a universal adaptor on UCP that securely bridges agentic commerce platforms and merchant backends, enabling merchants to prepare for agentic commerce and scale across multiple platforms tomorrow.”

The launch follows a live, end-to-end agent-driven payment transaction carried out earlier this year by Worldline in partnership with ING and Visa.

Worldline, which serves more than 1.2 million customers, reported €4bn in revenue in 2025.
