Under the agreement, WireBarley, an Asia-Pacific payments platform, will integrate with Thunes’ Direct Global Network.
The integration aims to broaden WireBarley’s payout options and accelerate remittance delivery for its user base, which the companies said totals 1.1 million.
Thunes said WireBarley users will gain access to enhanced payout capabilities across seven sending countries and 520 payout corridors.
The partners described the deal as a two-way growth arrangement. Thunes is looking to strengthen its presence in South Korea, while WireBarley plans to use the network integration to support its international expansion.
Thunes co-founder and CEO Peter De Caluwe said: “Our collaboration with WireBarley represents a shared strategic vision to remove fragmentation in global money movement. It’s a perfect example of how Thunes’ Direct Global Network can serve as a catalyst for fintech innovation and growth through real-time cross-border money movement.
“By bridging the gap between South Korea and the rest of the world, we are supporting Thunes’ presence in North Asia and empowering WireBarley to scale their vision of a borderless financial ecosystem.”
WireBarley co-founder and CEO John Joongwon Yoo said: “Thunes is a core strategic partner in our mission, built on the strong trust we have developed over the years and our shared commitment to a market-leading spirit.
“Together, we will deliver game-changing and seamless cross-border payment services in real time across multiple countries and regions, while accelerating our regional presence and strategic business expansion.”
The announcement follows a recent Thunes product launch in cross-border payouts. Last month, the company introduced a direct-to-workforce payout service aimed at businesses paying overseas remote teams, freelancers and gig workers.
