The product supports UPI and passkey-based biometric card payments and is intended to help businesses embed payments into AI-led customer journeys.

It is expected to enable merchants accept payments within conversational interfaces, without redirecting users to external checkout pages.

According to the company, Cashfree Here places a payment layer inside AI chats so users can complete transactions within the conversation.

The extension supports UPI as well as card payments.

For card transactions, it includes passkey-enabled biometric authentication, which is designed to reduce reliance on OTP-based flows. Cashfree Payments also said the solution is PCI-compliant for in-chat checkouts on the OpenAI Apps SDK and Anthropic MCP apps.

Cashfree Payments SVP and Product head Nitin Pulyani said: “With Cashfree Here, and our collaboration with Mastercard and Swiggy, we are fundamentally changing that by making payments a native part of AI conversations.

“This is not just about faster checkouts, it is about enabling a completely new way for businesses to sell, engage, and grow in an AI-first world.”

The extension is targeted at merchants and developers looking to convert AI-driven discovery into real-time transactions. The company added that it is designed to reduce integration and compliance overhead for teams building AI commerce flows.

It also expects the in-chat payment process to reduce checkout drop-offs and shorten the time between purchase intent and payment completion.

According to its website, Cashfree Payments processes $80bn annually for more than 8,00,000 businesses and has operated since 2015.

In September 2025, the company added Apple Pay support for international cards through its international payment gateway (IPG). This allows businesses to offer Apple Pay at checkout for customers in markets including the US, UK, Canada, UAE, and Europe.
