Apple has been granted a patent for shopping
app On-the-go shopping list.

The app will allow users to create shopping
lists by scanning bar codes, and find products related information
such as price, consumer ratings and offers in different retail
outlets.

This patent, US No. 8,239,276, also includes a
store-wide network that allows a shopper to scan items in the
store, add the scanned items to a shopping list, and then check-out
electronically.

After the unveiling of the iPhone app Passbook
and the recent acquisition of security firm Authen Tec, the
registration of the patent is likely to further propel the
speculation of Apple future launch of NFC payments technology for
smathphones.
