Mobeewave and IDEMIA have announced plans to enable acceptance and validation of contactless payments on mobile devices in Australia.
The companies initially partnered in 2017 to offer a mobile point-of-sale (mPOS) application.
The mPOS uses IDEMIA’s Digital Enablement Platform to accept debit and credit payments. Merchants can accept payments from contactless cards and digital wallets on NFC-enabled devices.
Mobeewave and IDEMIA also created a fare validation app, which can be used by transit officers to validate contactless payment fares with off-the-shelf devices.
IDEMIA senior vice-president of Sales and Global Markets for Digital Business Unit James King said: “Through Mobeewave’s patented, PCI-compliant contactless payment processing platform, and by leveraging our Digital Enablement Platform, we are paving the way for Australia to be a world leader in frictionless, effortless and secure payment innovation.”
Mobeewave co-founder Benjamin du Haÿs said: “97% of all Australian companies are micro and small businesses, and they have been underserved for far too long by the lack of easy, frictionless and affordable card payment acceptance solutions.
