YouGov research shows a further 50% of consumers in the UK are
put off my m-payments technology due to security fears.

More than a third of respondents have admitted to not knowing if
their phones enable them to make cashless payments using near-field
communications (NFC).
YouGov analysts rather optimistically have
predicted rapid take up of the NFC contactless technology based on
findings that show one in ten respondents are likely to use
the service in the future.
“There will always be concerns about adopting
any new technology,” said Russell Feldman, a YouGov technology and
telecoms consultant that led the research.
“Consumers need to see that these genuine
worries have been addressed before they embrace mobile payments.
There’s a real opportunity to educate consumers about the
advantages and we believe once people have seen it in practice they
will be quick to adopt it.”

By GlobalDataConvenience (87%) and the speed of payment
(67%) are some of the main benefits for those planning to use NFC.
67% of consumers have said that it would be easier than carrying
cash and cards while 29% have agreed that mobile payments can help
them keep track of their spending.
