MasterCard is in talks with Indonesian
financial institutions and mobile operators to launch m-payments in
the country.
Vadyo Munaan, senior country manager for
Indonesia for MasterCard told Jakarta Post that the central bank
supported the idea, but emphasised that banks and mobile operators
needed more time to study the proposal.

According to Philip Yen, emerging payments
group head for Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Africa at
MasterCard, the card network sees Indonesia as a leading market in
the mobile payments industry.
