The European Payments Council (EPC) along with the Cards Stakeholders Group (CSG) has issued the latest version of the SEPA Cards Standardisation Volume for a public consultation.

Version 6.5 will be open for a six week discussion period where stakeholders are encouraged to provide their feedback.

The document, based on open international card standards, identifies a set of requirements to ensure an interoperable and scalable card and terminal infrastructure across SEPA.

Javier Santamaría, chair of EPC, said: "Continuation of the CSG’s self-regulatory role and the effective implementation of the harmonised SEPA cards standardisation requirements contained in the Cards Standardisation Volume is the most appropriate and efficient way to achieve further integration of the European cards market."

A stable version will be released in early 2014 for market implementation.
