Bahrain is set to reduce fees on ATM cash withdrawals from current 200 fils ($0.52) to 100 fils ($0.26) from 1 April 2014.

The initiative by the Central Bank of Bahrain was recently approved by Bahrain’s Electronic Network for Financial Transactions (BENEFIT), the national ATM monitoring company.

BENEFIT chairman, Abdulrazzaq Al Qassim, was quoted by Trade Arabia citing Gulf Daily News as saying that the step comes as part of efforts to upgrade services.

"This will encourage all ATM card holders to use Benefit’s network consisting of more than 460 ATMs across Bahrain," Al Qassim added.
