KBC Bank Ireland is planning to introduce a MasterCard credit card in the country, as part of its strategy to introduce personal banking products.

The move follows the recent launch of current accounts and a debit card in 2013.

KBC Bank Ireland CEO, Wim Verbraeken, was quoted by Irish Times as saying that it is really completing the suite of products.

"We already had a debit card with an overdraft and it’s clear that customers expect to be able to apply for a credit card," Verbraeken added.

The new credit card will have an annual percentage rate (APR) interest rate of 18.25% on purchases. However, for the first six months, KBC will not charge any interest on the transfer balance.
