American Express has expanded OptBlue, a new merchant acquiring program that extends US small merchant coverage.

Currently, nearly 10 acquirers are participating in OptBlue including Vantiv, Global Payments, Heartland Payment Systems, Worldpay, Transfirst and JetPay, First Data, EVO, Merchant e-Solutions and First American Payments Systems.

All these acquirers will offer a full one-stop servicing solution for American Express Card acceptance to eligible US small merchants.

Leveraging OptBlue, participating can deliver US small merchants the benefit of a single statement, one settlement process, and one contact for all the major card brands. Additionally, participants will decide merchant pricing as well as provide payment processing and servicing.

American Express believes that OptBlue will enhance its’ U.S. small merchant coverage by providing consumers more payment options at local businesses.
