MasterCard Canada has inked an exclusive partnership agreement with One, a technology company, to bring new loyalty solutions to Canadians.
The agreement will give consumers the choice to link their loyalty cards to their MasterCard credit cards to automatically earn rewards points as they complete a transaction, One claims. This will eliminate the need to carry or pull out loyalty cards.
MasterCard Canada senior vice president for market development Wendy Braithwaite said: "We’re looking at the next evolution of the shopping experience, and Universal Recognition will support a service that will change the way cardholders experience payments and loyalty."
One CEO Jeffrey Moscoe said: "Our partnership with MasterCard Canada represents a monumental leap forward in delivering the world’s first Universal Recognition platform."
"Our solution replaces the loyalty cards in a shopper’s wallet with a solution built directly into their MasterCard – in plastic form, via digital wallet or online. Dip, tap or swipe and earn your loyalty points at the same time. Our goal is to make cardholders’ lives easier and more rewarding."
