The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has warned the general public about credit card frauds in its name.
"Falling prey to these offers will reveal one’s crucial personal information that may be misused to cause direct financial loss to them," RBI said in a statement.

The central bank said that it does not carry out business with individuals through savings bank accounts, current bank accounts, credit cards, debit cards, online banking services or any other form of banking service.
Fictitious offers, which are made in the name of institutions such as, International Monetary Fund, Income Tax authorities, customs authorities or public figures, include offering large sum of money/lottery winnings through email or phone calls, faking Reserve Bank website for online transactions, asking bank account details like user id/password to secure bank accounts against frauds through email or by clicking on a link or offering employment in the Reserve Bank.
RBI stated: "They, in their own interest, should refrain from responding to such offers in any manner. Rather, they should immediately lodge a complaint with Cyber Crime branch of the Police."
