Mondo, a London-based fintech startup, has selected Wirecard Card Solutions to issue their physical MasterCard prepaid card linked to the banking app.
The Mondo card, which works with Near-Field-Communication (NFC) technology at contactless terminals, allows its users to load money onto the card.
The company, in a statement, said that users can purchase the first £100 of credit balance by paying with their existing card through a ‘purchase’ screen in the app.
Initially, Alpha version of iOS-based Mondo app will be distributed to invited customers.
The fintech startup, recently, also rolled out its general spend MasterCard prepaid card program in the UK.
Mondo founder and CEO Tom Blomfield said: "Mondo’s entire experience is designed around your smartphone. We are targeting a demographic that values being able to do everything over a mobile phone in five seconds."
