UnionPay International, a provider of cross-border payment services, has issued the first EMV prepaid salary card in the UAE.
The prepaid salary cards will enable banks in the UAE to offer workers secure and advanced payment services conforming to the country’s Wage Protection System (WPS).

Users of the new salary cards can access several benefits similar to regular electronic banking including global withdrawal, as well as global point of sales purchases, the company said.
Cardholders can also receive global access to their finances and can withdraw from their home country.
UnionPay International Middle East general manager Han Wang said: "Once again, UnionPay International partners with leading local banks and payment processing companies to offer labour a secure and robust payment scheme.
"With UnionPay’s financially viable EMV prepaid salary cards, banks can guarantee labour have access to an array of benefits and a global access to their funds."
