Tim Hortons, an American restaurant chain has introduced an additional mobile payments service powered by barcode technology through its TimmyMe app across its restaurants in Canada and the US.

Available on iOS, Android and BlackBerry 10, the customers need to register a prepaid Tim Card on TimmyMe App to use barcode technology for scan-to-pay option at participating Tim Hortons stores.

Tim Hortons COO David Clanachan said the company is continuously working to implement best-in-class, customer-centric technology across its restaurants and the launch of mobile barcode payments enables it to offer the best overall guest experience.

"Enhancing our technology so that guests can store their digital Tim Card in their phone for quick and easy payments is an added convenience we know customers will enjoy," added Clanachan.

The latest service add to TimmyMe App’s services that includes spotting the nearest Tim Hortons locations from anywhere, securing nutritional information for Tim Hortons menu item, to reloading your Tim Card on mobile device.

The application can be downloaded from the App Store, the Google Play Store and BlackBerry App World for free.
