Malaysia based bank CIMB Bank has launched a banking application on Facebook. OctoPay allows customers to make transactions and share money online using the social networking site.

An expansion of the banks other online offering CIMB clicks, the service facilitates transfers between CIMB account holders and lets customers reload prepaid mobile phone accounts. OctoPay also includes a CoinBox feature where friends can invite each other to contribute to a savings pool and share money online.

Renzo Viegas, CIMB Bank’s, group deputy chief executive officer and head of consumer banking, said: "This is truly an innovative breakthrough on the way we do banking in this day of age. Facebook is the fastest growing social networking medium and is reported to have a total online reach of more than 800 million subscribers worldwide. With OctoPay, we took the lead by diversifying our alternate delivery channels, and integrate our internet banking capabilities with social networking elements which is convenient and fun for our customers who are also active Facebookers."

Earlier this month CIMB Bank launched the ‘Savings Circle’ the world’s first integrated deposit campaign on Facebook.
