Securus Technologies, a US-based technology enabled solutions provider, has purchased GovPayNet, a credit and debit card electronic payments processor for government agencies.
Founded in 1997, GovPayNet focuses on assisting more than 2,300 law enforcement agencies in the US to handle cash bail payments by credit card.
Securus Technologies CEO and president Robert Pickens said: “We want to continue to build on our core competency of providing payment solutions to consumers of government and related services.
“With our addition of GovPayNet, we now process over 40 million payments annually.
“With additional investments in sales people and products, and by combining the capabilities of JPay, we plan to expand into additional segments of the government payment processing market and further grow our market share in this attractive sector.”
Securus offers solutions for more than 3,500 public safety, law enforcement, investigations and corrections agencies, and the acquisition is intended to expand its payment servicing business.
In addition to government payment services, Securus Technologies offers biometric analysis, communication, information management, as well as monitoring solutions for products and services.
