Global Payments has launched currency
conversion service Global HomeCurrencyPay in the Philippines
through its merchant acquiring joint venture with HSBC.
It means international customers can choose
make payments in either their card billing currencies or the
Philippine Peso using their Visa or Mastercard payment cards at
participating merchants.
The transactions are automatically converted
to the customers’ card billing currencies at the point of sale
allowing the consumer to immediately recognise the payment
amount.
“The extension of the dynamic currency
conversion service to the Philippine market reflects our commitment
to provide outstanding products and services across all our
geographic markets,” said Ian Courtnage, president of Global
Payments Asia Pacific.
“Merchants in the travel and hospitality
businesses in the Philippines will benefit from the lower cost of
processing overseas card transactions and will be able to offer
enhanced service to their international customers.”
GlobalHomeCurrency is currently available in
China, Hong Kong, India, Macau, Malaysia and Taiwan.
