Western Union has launched a new money transfer bot – Request Money – which enables money transfer requests through Facebook Messenger in the Philippines.

The service allows the Messenger users in the Philippines to specify transaction amount and the preference for payout from friends and family in the US.

The funds can be received through major bank accounts or can be collected in cash at Western Union retail agent locations across the country.

When a user requests money through Messenger, a message is triggered to the sender in the US and will be redirected to Western Union money transfer bot by clicking on the request, and with few clicks the transaction will be completed.

Messenger users both in the US and the Philippines also have access to foreign exchange rates and automated customer support. The sender can also receive transaction tracking notifications.

Western Union global money transfer president Odilon Almeida said: “This collaboration underscores our commitment to financial inclusion, by connecting the world’s developed and emerging nations in innovative ways.
