Australian marketing and payment service provider (PSP) AirPay Financial Technologies (AirPay FinTech) has expanded its e-commerce partnership with China’s UnionPay.

Under this partnership, AirPay intends to offer ‘UnionPay Online Payment’ in Australia.

AirPay will integrate the international payment network’s Online Payment services into its bill payment joint venture (JV) named ‘ToPay’.

ToPay will add UnionPay Online Payment to the new e-commerce platform named UMall.

Last year in June, AirPay had rolled out UnionPay QR acquiring services in Australia.

This payment method is accepted at 29 million merchant locations in China and in 33 other countries, globally.

“We had a joint venture, ToPay, with leading media group Today Australia last year, and we foresee more strategic partnership, merging & acquisition in 2021.”

ToPay Co-founder Stanley Yan said: “We are thrilled to integrate UnionPay Online Payment into our ToPay bill payment product.

“UnionPay is a popular payment method for overseas Chinese students, providing them with a simple and convenient way to pay for tuition fee and everyday bills.

“We look forward to launching UnionPay Online Payment onto new e-commerce platform Umall.”

Additionally, AirPay launched the “Black Diamond” campaign in partnership with Alipay.

The campaign is said to be the most privileged membership category within Alipay.
