In a statement, Helcim said the financing includes new participation from Curql Fund and Gold House Ventures, alongside follow-on investment from existing backers.
The Series C takes the company’s total equity raised to C$100m since its Series A in 2022.
Helcim founder and CEO Nic Beique said: “There’s a real void in the market right now – merchants are coming to Helcim faster than ever, looking for a modern alternative.
“This round lets us act on this at scale: expanding our platform, growing our team, and moving up-market so no business outgrows what we can offer them.”
Helcim launched as a standalone payments provider in 2020. It offers point of sale, invoicing, online checkout, a smart terminal, and embedded payments tools for small and mid-sized businesses.
According to the company, it serves more than 22,000 active merchants across North America.
Helcim also reported it crossed C$150m in annual recurring revenue (ARR) over the past year and grew to 200 employees.
It added that banks in Canada and the US have sold or outsourced merchant services operations, which Helcim said is driving demand among small and mid-sized businesses.
In January 2026, Helcim introduced an AI-powered Payment Extension. The tool enables merchants to integrate Helcim payment processing into existing software.
BDC Capital’s Growth Venture Fund partner Jack Fraser said: “Helcim is having a unique moment, growing fast and building a real advantage in the market.
“Their recent AI-powered integration tool is a good example of the kind of fast-moving innovation we’re backing, and exactly what it will take to capture that opportunity.”
